"To grow is to go beyond what you are today. Stand up as yourself. Do not imitate.
Do not pretend to have achieved your goal, and do not try to cut corners. Just try to grow."
– Swami Prajnanpad
I help people and organizations find a path that fits and walk it with mastery. I believe that everyone has a unique path that aligns their strengths, values, and purpose to maximize their contribution to the world.
This company (A Path That Fits, Inc.) is my life's work. It's my path that fits. I've poured all of myself into creating the most effective and meaningful coaching programs available because I wholeheartedly believe that everyone has A Path That Fits — and I know the profound feeling of purpose that comes from living it.
My approach to coaching is holistic, balancing the need to get results with a quest for meaning and fulfillment. The evolution of my own path reflects this balance.
In my first career as a management consultant, I learned how to be strategic and produce results. Although I valued those skills, consulting never felt like the right fit. I was challenged and working hard but I didn’t feel as though my true gifts and full potential were being utilized. I knew that something more was possible but I didn’t know what.
I got on a plane to Indonesia one week after I quit, buoyed by belief that I had a path that fits and it was waiting to be discovered. Over the next six months, my outward exploration of Southeast Asia mirrored my internal exploration of myself. I didn’t know it at the time but the process of self-discovery that illuminated my path would later become the foundation of my coaching programs. I returned from Southeast Asia clear in my purpose to help people find a path that fits and develop their potential.
My coaching certification from The Coaches Training Institute provided a context to integrate decades of informal but invaluable training from my parents, a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist. I am also a student of Hakomi Somatic Psychology. I sought out this method of psychology to expand upon my coaching training so that I can help clients more gracefully move through the deepest places they are stuck. Hakomi has added another layer of depth to my coaching and greatly enhanced the results that my clients experience.
In addition to coaching, I lead nature based rites of passage groups with the Stepping Stones Project and have served on their board of directors for several years. My life and work have been influenced by eastern philosophy including Buddhism and mindfulness meditation, Aikido, Tai Chi, nature based psychology. I have a deep reverence for the time I spend in nature and the clarity it reveals. I still love to travel and try to spend a month a year abroad coaching via phone and Skype. I am grateful to coaching and my clients for challenging me to continually grow.
Over the years, my practice has expanded to include work with individuals, groups, schools, non-profit organizations, and corporate teams. I have offices in San Francisco and Berkeley and coach clients nationally and internationally via phone.
